J & E’s Elegant Blue & White Wedding at Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club
A Romantic Blue & White Wedding at Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club
Set against the beautiful natural surroundings of Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club in Vancouver, J & E’s wedding combined soft blue tones, fresh white florals and natural greenery to create an elegant celebration that felt romantic, fresh and timeless.
For this wedding, our team at Jack & Jill Weddings Inc. created a coordinated floral and décor design that flowed from the outdoor ceremony into the reception.
The colour palette centred around soft blue, crisp white and fresh greenery, complementing both the outdoor setting and the classic interior of the venue.
Rather than making every element identical, we carried the same colours, flowers and organic design style throughout the wedding so that each area felt connected while still having its own character.
Outdoor Ceremony Décor with a View
The ceremony took place outdoors, where the surrounding greenery and distant waterfront created a beautiful natural backdrop.
Instead of competing with the scenery, we designed the ceremony around a simple wooden arbor accented with flowing soft blue draping.
Large floral arrangements were placed asymmetrically across the structure, combining white blooms, touches of blue flowers and trailing greenery.
The loose, garden-inspired floral placement helped soften the wooden arbor while still allowing the landscape behind the ceremony to remain visible.
The result was a ceremony backdrop that felt romantic and substantial without becoming overly heavy or formal.
For outdoor weddings in Vancouver, we often recommend designing décor around the existing environment rather than completely covering it. When a venue already has beautiful scenery, thoughtful floral placement can make the setting feel even more intentional.
A Floral Welcome Moment
The blue and white floral theme continued at the entrance with J & E’s mirrored welcome sign.
Fresh flowers and greenery framed the top of the mirror, while a complementary floor arrangement added dimension at the base.
Using florals around wedding signage is a simple way to make an entrance feel more connected to the overall wedding design.
It also created a beautiful first impression for guests as they entered the celebration.
Blue Draping for the Reception
Inside the reception, we introduced larger sections of dusty blue draping layered over white fabric behind the sweetheart table.
The draping added colour to the room without making the space feel dark and provided a strong visual backdrop behind the couple.
At the centre, we designed a low floral arrangement using the same white, blue and green palette used throughout the wedding.
Trailing greenery across the table softened the clean white linen and connected the sweetheart table visually with the more organic ceremony florals.
This is one of the details we particularly love about full-service wedding design: ceremony flowers, reception décor and centrepieces do not have to look exactly the same, but they should feel like they belong to the same wedding.
Garden-Inspired Blue & White Centrepieces
For J & E’s guest tables, we created elevated arrangements featuring a combination of white roses, white hydrangea, blue floral accents and trailing greenery.
The tall clear glass vases allowed the arrangements to make an impact above the tables while keeping the area at guest level visually open.
The arrangements were designed with an airy, natural shape rather than a tightly rounded silhouette. Branching greenery and delicate blue flowers extended outward from the main floral composition, giving the centrepieces movement and a garden-inspired feel.
The white linens and glassware kept the tables clean and classic, while small gold accents added a subtle touch of warmth.
Coordinating Florals Throughout the Venue
Smaller floral arrangements were also used throughout the venue, including the guest welcome and display areas.
Repeating key flowers and greenery helped connect these smaller details back to the ceremony and reception design.
This is something we consider carefully when planning wedding décor.
Instead of treating the ceremony, reception and entrance as separate projects, we look at the wedding as a complete visual experience. Repeating colours, floral varieties, textures and design elements makes the entire event feel more polished and intentional.
