D & M’s Romantic Garden Wedding at Riverway Clubhouse in Burnaby

A Romantic Pastel Wedding at Riverway Clubhouse

D & M’s wedding at Riverway Clubhouse in Burnaby was filled with soft colour, garden-inspired florals and romantic details from ceremony to reception.

For this celebration, our team at Jack & Jill Weddings Inc. created a floral design built around shades of lavender, blush pink, soft blue, creamy white and fresh greenery.

Rather than relying on one dominant colour, the design brought several soft tones together to create a natural, layered garden look.

From the outdoor ceremony arch and aisle flowers to the reception centrepieces and sweetheart table, the same floral palette carried throughout the wedding to create a cohesive celebration.

A Lush Floral Ceremony Arch

The ceremony was centred around a large circular floral arch overlooking the surrounding landscape.

We designed the arch with an organic garden-inspired shape rather than a perfectly symmetrical floral pattern.

White and cream flowers formed much of the foundation, while lavender roses, soft pink blooms, blue floral accents and delicate greenery added colour and movement throughout the installation.

The flowers continued all the way toward the base of the arch, helping the design feel grounded rather than appearing as flowers placed only across the top.

With the open sky, surrounding greenery and water in the distance, the floral arch created a striking ceremony focal point while still allowing the natural scenery to remain visible.

Romantic Floral Aisle Décor

The floral design continued down the ceremony aisle with low arrangements placed beside the guest chairs.

Each arrangement incorporated the same soft palette of white, blush, lavender and blue flowers, creating a natural transition toward the ceremony arch.

Using floral arrangements along the aisle helped visually frame the ceremony without covering the brick pathway.

It also meant guests experienced the wedding design from the moment they entered the ceremony space rather than only seeing flowers at the altar.

For outdoor ceremonies, this type of repeated floral placement can make a significant visual difference while still keeping the overall design light and open.

Garden-Inspired Wedding Centrepieces

Inside the reception, D & M’s tables featured elevated garden-inspired centrepieces in classic glass vessels.

Lavender roses became one of the most recognizable elements in the reception florals, surrounded by creamy white hydrangea, white flowers, blue accents, purple blooms and loose greenery.

We intentionally designed the arrangements with different heights and directions rather than creating a tightly rounded shape.

This gave the centrepieces a more natural appearance, almost as though the flowers had been freshly gathered from a garden.

The transparent glass vessels kept the arrangements elegant while allowing the flowers to remain the main focus.

Soft Lavender, Blue and White Wedding Flowers

One of the most beautiful elements of this wedding was the way different pastel colours worked together.

The floral palette included:

  • soft lavender and mauve roses
  • white and ivory flowers
  • pale blue floral accents
  • purple flowers
  • white hydrangea
  • airy filler flowers
  • fresh greenery

Together, these colours created a romantic look that felt colourful without becoming overly bold.

The combination worked especially well inside Riverway Clubhouse, where the soft flowers contrasted beautifully with the venue’s warm wood architecture and large windows.

A Floral Sweetheart Table with Candlelight

For the sweetheart table, we created a wide floral arrangement across the front of the table using the same pastel palette seen throughout the wedding.

Lavender roses, cream flowers, blue accents and loose greenery extended naturally across the table, creating a fuller focal point for the couple.

In front of the table, floating candles in clear glass cylinders added another layer to the design.

The varying candle heights gave the sweetheart area dimension while keeping the overall look clean and elegant.

Smaller floral arrangements were positioned at floor level on either side, helping visually frame the table.

Reusing the Ceremony Arch for the Reception

One of the strongest design elements of this wedding was the floral arch itself.

After serving as the ceremony focal point outdoors, the floral design also worked beautifully behind the sweetheart table during the reception.

This is something we often consider when designing weddings: how can major floral pieces continue working after the ceremony?

When venue logistics allow, repurposing a ceremony feature can help couples get more visual impact from their floral investment.

A statement floral arch can potentially become a reception backdrop, sweetheart-table feature or photography area rather than being used for only one part of the day.

A Welcoming Entrance to the Celebration

The reception entrance continued D & M’s personalized wedding styling with a welcome display featuring their wedding portrait, signage, candles and small floral touches.

The soft floral details helped connect the entrance to the rest of the reception décor without requiring another large arrangement.

These smaller areas are often overlooked, but they can help make the entire wedding feel intentional.

Guests experience a wedding as a series of spaces — ceremony, entrance, reception tables and sweetheart area — so carrying small design details between those spaces creates a more polished overall experience.

Designing a Riverway Clubhouse Wedding

Riverway Clubhouse offers couples both outdoor and indoor settings, which makes it especially important to create a floral design that works across different environments.

For D & M’s wedding, the pastel floral palette looked soft and romantic outdoors while still providing enough colour to stand out inside the reception space.

The large windows and warm wood interior provided a very different background from the outdoor ceremony, but repeating the same flowers and colours kept both spaces connected.

For couples planning a Riverway Clubhouse wedding, larger statement pieces such as a ceremony arch or sweetheart-table backdrop can create strong focal points, while centrepieces and aisle florals carry the design throughout the rest of the celebration.
